Accessibility to content | a new service : francetv AD

France Télévisions has launched the very first vocal assistant that will enable blind and partially sighted people to listen to television and benefit from audiodescription when it is available.

This service has been developed by the teams of the Digital Innovation Department of the public audiovisual group, in collaboration with the French startup Cybronics and with the kind cooperation of associations representing blind and partially sighted people.

The service is being tested and it is now available on connected speakers (Amazon Alexa compatible, or via the Amazon Alexa application on Smartphone) or on recent smartphones, with a « francetv AD » web application or a native iOS application « francetv AD ». Thanks to voice command, the community of blind and partially sighted people can now, at any time, simply listen to the national channels of France tv (France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5, France Ô, Franceinfo) and access a weekly programme guide allowing them to search for the list of programmes available with audiodescription.

This service is fully in line with France Télévisions’ strategy and public service missions to improve the accessibility of its programmes and to include all audiences.
